Meet the President. Greg Proffitt has been a part of the Newton Federal Team for 17 years. Since the merger with Affinity Bank in 2020, Greg has served as President of Newton Federal Bank, focusing his attention on the Covington Market and brand relations within the community.

He is an active member of the Community Banker’s Association of Georgia (CBA), serving on the executive committee of the board and as chair of the Membership Committee. For the CBA’s 2022-23 fiscal year, he will be serving as treasurer and chair of the finance committee.

Greg received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) and earned his MBA from Georgia State University. Having lived in the Covington area for the last 29 years with his wife Betsy and two children, Brantley and Ellie, Greg is excited and honored to give back to his local community. He is currently serving as chair on two local nonprofit boards: Newton Mentoring Inc. and Newton Country Christian Learning Center. In addition, he serves as a deacon in his local church.
