We Have a History of Excellence
Before the bank, the Methodist Church broke ground on 1,400 acres north of Covington, Georgia, and named the new college Emory, in honor of Methodist bishop John Emory
Newton County Building and Loan Association founded.
Federal Charter established as Newton Federal Savings and Loan Association
The first movie was filmed in Covington, “A Man Named Peter.” Since then more 126 productions and 1,034 Television episodes have been filmed in the greater Covington area.
In Newton Federal Savings & Loan Association opens its Main Office building at 3175 Highway 278 in Covington.
On January 12, 1989, Newton Federal Savings & Loan Association donated a house located just a few blocks from Town Square to the Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce. To this day, the Chamber still occupies the property.
Eastside Branch opens.
New name of Newton Federal Bank adopted.
Southside Branch opens.
Teen drama series “The Vampire Diaries” began filming in Covington, and went on to air 171episodes in eight seasons and win multiple People’s Choice and Teen Choice awards.
Mystic Grill, featured in "The Vampire Diaries" opens and becomes a Newton Federal client.
Newton Federal Bank received the prestigious Partner of the Year award from the Newton County School System. The annual award recognizes the most outstanding involvement of a business partner among the 150+ individual school-business partner.
